New Women’s All Age Team/s – 2027 Season
New Lambton FC is putting together at least one new All Age Women’s team for the 2027 season, and we want you on board.
The All-Age Women’s squad sits immediately below the two ZFLW teams and operates as part of the same broader senior women’s program. Importantly, All-Age also provides a development and feeder pathway into ZFLW. The longer-term objective is movement between the levels as players develop, perform and earn opportunities. We want First Grade, Conference and All-Age to be viewed not as three unrelated teams, but as three levels of one New Lambton senior women’s football program.
Our intention is to build a proper senior women’s football pathway at New Lambton – a program. That means three tiers for senior Women’s football:
~ Zone League Women’s First Grade.
~ Zone League Women’s Conference Grade.
And sitting underneath those teams is an All-Age Women’s squad.
The All-Age team is not separate – it is be part of the same women’s football pathway. It gives us somewhere for players to continue playing, developing and pushing for higher honours. If we’re serious about building a sustainable women’s football program, we need depth underneath the two Zone League teams. That’s where an All-Age Women’s squad is so incredibly important.
ZFL First Grade, ZFL Conference and All-Age are not three isolated teams. They are three levels of one New Lambton senior women’s program. A player can start the year in All-Age and earn an opportunity in Conference. A Conference player might develop and push into First Grade. A First Grade player returning from injury may need football elsewhere before returning.
Players should be able to see a pathway and Coaches should be talking to each other. Everybody involved should understand that development doesn’t stop simply because you weren’t selected in the first team you hoped for. That’s how strong football programs work. And that’s the sort of structure we’d like to develop here.
No matter where you’re starting from – a relative beginner or long-time player, right in your football prime or just looking to be involved, a busy mum, a uni student, someone new to Newcastle, back from overseas, or simply after a fun new hobby – there’s a place for you at New Lambton. We’re a welcoming, laid-back club where the people matter as much as the football. If you’ve been thinking about playing, or even just wondering whether it might be for you, come have a chat with us.
Spots are limited, so don’t wait too long to reach out.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Format: All Age Women’s team (providing a development and feeder pathway into ZFLW, for those players who are so inclined)
- Training: Novocastrian Park, Orchardtown Road, New Lambton
- Home Games: Novocastrian Park, Orchardtown Road, New Lambton
COMPETITION FORMAT
Our new team(s) will compete in Newcastle Football’s All Age Women’s competition, run under the Northern NSW Football umbrella. A few things to know:
- Who can play: It’s an open, senior competition with a minimum age only – you simply need to be turning 15 or older in the competition year. There’s no upper age limit, so whether you’re 15 or 50, you’re welcome.
- Grading: The competition is split into grades (from A grade down through the lower grades), so new teams are placed at a level that matches their experience and can move up or down over time. This means players of all standards can find a competitive, enjoyable level to play at.
- Season structure: Teams play a home-and-away round-robin season, followed by a finals series for the top-placed teams, culminating in a grand final.
- Match length: Games run for two 40 – 45 minute halves (depending on grade) with a 10-minute half-time break.
- Team size: Squads are typically registered with a minimum of around 11 – 18 players, with rolling interchange used throughout the match – so there’s plenty of game time to go around and flexibility if you can’t make every game.
- Registration: All players register as amateurs through the national football registration platform, in line with Football Australia and Northern NSW Football rules.
This is a genuinely accessible entry point into club football – no prior representative experience needed, just a willingness to give it a go.
